Is it worth the compromise?

I'm told I should learn to compromise.
Let go of certain things for bigger joys,
These lessons we learn in our lives..
Guess I'm no longer a child to fuss for toys!!

Every single time we give up
Something we really want,
Maybe a desired purchase or a lovely sup-
As compromise.. but in mind it does taunt!

To compromise for someone we care,
For sake of understanding
Or to selflessly share...
It's always a virtue in a being .

But as always.. I do ponder,
If instead of compromising
Would I rather have the wonder
Of obtaining all that I'm heartily desiring??
